Bodhicitta Sangha

Heart of Enlightenment Institute

Minneapolis Sangha

In general, Bodhicitta Sangha means Heart of Enlightenment Institute. However, we also have a group of students in Minneapolis who have formed a community as part of the greater Bodhicitta Sangha Institute. Our organization focuses on bringing fully qualified Tibetan teachers to the Twin Cities area for extended periods, supporting those teachers and clergy while they are here with us, offering classes to the general public and Buddhists alike, and publishing audio and other teaching documents. We also work to support our founding Rinpoche’s dharma projects here and abroad. As a Sangha we also support and encourage each other on our path of learning about Tibetan Buddhism as well as our daily practices.

It does not matter whether or not you are a Buddhist, all people are welcome to come and learn and practice. If you are Buddhist, it does not matter which sect you follow, Nyingma, Kagyud, Gelug or Sakya. Once again, all are welcome to participate in our teachings.

When we invite teachers to stay in residence here, our goal is to have them stay with us for several months at a time so that we can continue our learning at a more in depth level. We typically have classes two or three times a week for several months at a time.

Some of the classes that have been taught in the past and that we plan on continuing are classes on basic Buddhism, teachings on the preliminary practices, philosophy, shamata meditation, Tibetan language, and longer weekend retreats.

We also have ongoing Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) Feasts on the 10th of every Month (Tibetan calendar). See our schedule page for these exact dates on the western calendar.

If you need more details on some of the practice you can visit our “How to Practice” page on this website.
