Gyalwa Pukang Monastery's Monastic College Ngetön Shedrup Targyé Ling
Ngetön Shedrup Targyé Ling was founded by Mahapandita Pema Tsewang
in the year of the fire rabbit in the seventeenth sixty year cycle of
the Tibetan calendar (1987). The college, founded by Khenchen Pema Tsewang, was a sanctuary for the study of the five
sciences and the Buddha’s teachings. Once complete, the three
foundational practices of the Vinaya, the root teachings of the sacred
Dharma, were established as the basis for the non-sectarian exposition
of the wonderful treatises of the learned Indian and Tibetan masters.
This included treatises on sutra, mantra, and the sciences, and a
particular emphasis on the writings of the three omniscient ones:
Rongzom Mahapandita, Longchen Rabjam, and Ju Mipam. Numerous
lineage-holding khenpos have been trained at this institution, bringing
happiness and benefit to all regions of Tibet and foreign lands, as
well as protecting and preserving the Buddha’s precious teachings and
helping them to flourish.

Khenchen Pema Tsewang Lhundrup was born in Dzachukha in the Derge region. He entered the doorway of the dharma at an early age and completed a course of study covering the whole range of subjects pertaining to the sutras, tantras, and other fields of knowledge. In particular, he studied with such masters as Gyalse Gyurme Dorje, Khenchen Botrul Do-ngak Tenpai Nyima, and Khenchen Tupten Chopel, receiving the entire body of maturing empowerments and liberating instructions of the profound, secret approach of Dzogchen and putting them into practice. Pema Tsewang Lhundrup became a great mentor in his own right, combining the three qualities of erudition, moral purity, and nobility. Pema Tsewang Lhundrup taught at Dzogchen Shri Simha Shedra and other institutions, bestowing the nectar of the dharma through his profound and extensive knowledge. His enlightened activities had a wide impact, with hundreds of thousands of his followers and students supporting the teachings and helping beings throughout India and Tibet. This supreme lord of refuge was praised again and again in the
prophesies of numerous emanated treasure revealers, including the
regent of Padmasambhava Chokgyur Dechen Lingpa and Khamtsang Tertön.
